Elk Rock

Pete gets ready. The launch area needs a bit more work. On this day the rotor action made for difficult launching.

Wind was coming up 10-15 and firtst and by the time Pete got in the air it had backed off to 8-12 and was swing more to the north.

flying away

Pete takes to the air on his second launch from this site.

This view shows Pete heading south, with the old launch area just visible on the left side of the photo.

north view

Here Pete is above the road to the north of the launch area.  Just around the corner is another possible north wind launch, which may be the one Steve Forslund used years ago when he used to wear a helmet.

more north

Pete flew for an hour or more, getting above the summit of Elk Rock.

Heading to LZ at Elk Berm. I walked down because I think conditions at first required an assist, and later had gone more north, etc. The trail is well marked with orange flags if you begin where this map indicates: http://ancilnance.com/flightreports/elknorth/elknorth8.html
